St. George’s Center has been providing meals, social services and healthcare support resources to the less fortunate and underserved in Riviera Beach and Northern Palm Beach County for more than 30 years. Many of those who come to St. George’s Center (SGC) need more than physical support, they need help with their mental and the emotional health.
In wanting to help care for the emotional and mental health needs of our adult guest and service clients, SGC applied for and received a $15,000 grant from the Quantum Foundation to help fulfill these needs. We are truly grateful that we will now be able to expand our services creating the “SGC Healthy Tomorrows Mental Health Initiative,” according to Rick Richardson, the Executive Director of St. George’s Center. These funds will stimulate innovative community-based services that employ strategies to dispel the stigma of mental health counseling and to promote access to healthcare for homeless individuals and persons identified to be within the vulnerable community population.
Along with partner agencies, the initiative will provide:
· Mental Health screening and assessment
· Counseling, i.e., behavioral health (mental illness and occurring disorders), substance abuse, stress management, conflict resolution, anger management and family support
· Wrap-around Case Management
· Mental Health Housing Placement & Referral
St. George’s Center is building a place where hope and dignity are restored, and self-sufficiency is achieved.

St. George's Center, established in 1989, as a refuge, a safe place for the homeless and less fortunate to come to eat and rest for a time. The mission of St. George’s Center is to provide a pathway to self-sufficiency for individuals and families while meeting their basic human needs.

Quantum Foundation was formed in 1995 with the net proceeds from the sale of JFK Medical Center in Atlantis, Florida. We began making grants in Palm Beach County in June 1997. Quantum’s goal is to develop innovative ways to coordinate initiatives across sectors and with community partners that positively influence social and economic conditions that people need to live happy, healthy, and productive lives.
